Broome DA Race: Paul Battisti and Matthew Ryan Discuss the Issues
Republican Paul Battisti and Democrat Matthew Ryan are facing each other in this year's election for Broome County district attorney.
The candidates have some different ideas about how the office now headed by Michael Korchak should be run.
Battisti defeated Korchak in the Republican primary last June. That primary was a rematch of a battle for the party's nomination four years earlier.
In 2019, Battisti secured the Republican nomination in the primary election. Korchak ultimately ran on the Libertarian Party line in the general election that year and was elected district attorney in a three-way race.
Ryan and Battisti spoke during separate live interviews on WNBF Radio's Binghamton Now program about the district attorney's office and their plans if they are elected.
Both candidates have been invited to return to the WNBF studio for a joint appearance to talk about the issues in the race. Ryan accepted but Battisti declined the invitation.
