Broome County Man Apprehended After Early-Morning Homicide
Police have taken a suspect into custody in connection with the killing of a person at a Broome County home.
Broome County sheriff's deputies and state troopers were sent to a residence on Route 41 in the town of Colesville around 5:10 a.m.
Initial reports indicated the attack occurred during a domestic dispute.
Two people reportedly had been attacked in a dispute. One of them was pronounced dead a short time later.
The Broome County Sheriff's Office sought assistance from the public in locating the suspect.
According to an initial news release, investigators were looking for 26-year-old Patrick Daniel Proefriedt of Nineveh in connection with the homicide.
The brief statement from the sheriff's office said the suspect was believed to be on foot or driving a pickup truck.
About an hour later, the sheriff's office announced Proefriedt had been taken into custody. No information was immediately released on where the suspect was found or whether he was taken into custody without incident.
