Funeral Details Announced For Endicott Police Officer Who Passed Suddenly
A community is grieving the loss of Endicott Police Department Officer Sean Ahern, who passed away unexpectedly on March 8, 2024, at Upstate University Hospital in Syracuse as a result of complications related to acute respiratory issues.
Officer Ahern had served with the Endicott Police Department for 19 years and had planned to retire in May this year.
Originally from Rome, New York, Officer Ahern previously served in the United States Army as an Intelligence Officer from September 2000 through September 2005, serving in Bosnia-Herzegovina and Afghanistan and receiving a Bronze Star.
The Endicott Police Department, and the Southern Tier community, mourn the loss of Officer Ahern, who leaves behind his wife Lindsay, their four children, his parents, and siblings.
A funeral service is scheduled for Friday, March 15, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s of the Lake, Roman Catholic Church in Skaneateles, followed immediately by burial at Lakeview Cemetery. As a military veteran, Officer Ahern will be saluted with military honors at his burial.
A celebration of Officer Ahern’s life will take place from noon on Friday, March 15, at Skaneateles American Legion Post 239, where members of the public are welcome to attend.
Plans have also been put in place to support Officer Ahern’s family during this difficult time. A GoFundMe page has been set up, with a goal to raise $50,000. At the time of this writing, the GoFundMe has raised $23,826 of the set goal.
Additionally, the Endicott Police PBA has created a memorial fund for Officer Ahern’s family, and checks can be made payable to Endicott PBA with the note section indicating ‘Sean Ahern Memorial,’ and mailed to Endicott PBA, at 1101 Park Street, Endicott, NY 13760.
