Whenever I drive by a yard sale, I look to see if there is a child manning a lemonade stand. If there is, I'll stop in to quench my thirst, give them my dollar and add an extra buck for good service.

I was able to enjoy a cool drink and the kid was able to earn a little extra coin. So I'm really looking forward to this event later this month. It's the Pumpkin FestiFall at the Port Dickinson Community Park in Binghamton.

Do you know a child that would enjoy a next-level lemonade stand experience? On September 23rd, these Eager Entrepreneurs will be given a unique opportunity to learn what it's like to have a business for a day.

Children Can Be Eager Entrepreneurs For a Day

For only $25, kids are invited to set up a booth and promote their goods, services, or cause from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. It can be selling bracelets, dog or babysitting services, or whatever cause that they would like to promote.

Most children won't have a Sales Tax Certificate of Authority, so the organizers meet with the NYS Sales Tax office to find a way to legally let the kids raise funds for their cause.

So the participating Eager Entrepreneurs will be operating under a "take what you like and we accept donations" kind of transaction. You can donate as much as you want but any signage mentioning "suggested donations" has to be within the $1 to $5 range.

This will make it fair and fun for all the participating entrepreneurs. The Port Dickinson Pumpkin FestiFall is on September 23rd but the Eager Entrepreneurs should apply by September 20th to participate.

Set-up for Pumpkin FestiFall at Port Dickinson Park (811 Chenango St) is from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. with the event running until 4 p.m. The event will be cancelled if the park is flooded. For more information on the Pumpkin FestiFall, you can download this form.
