Based on a report from the National Weather Service in Binghamton, today and tonight are not expected to bring any hazardous weather conditions. However, from Saturday through Sunday, residents should be prepared for significant changes in weather patterns.
Periods of heavy rain are forecasted for Sunday and Sunday evening, which may lead to localized flooding. With the potential for heavy rainfall, it is important to stay aware of weather conditions, especially in low-lying areas or regions that are prone to flooding.
Brian Donegan, an Upstate New York resident, and Senior Digital Meteorologist at FOX Weather tells Townsquare Media that Sunday will start with temperatures in the 50s but that the day will bring a soaking rain to most areas, with rainfall totals ranging from 1.5 to 2.5 inches. Residents should be ready for a sharp drop in temperature overnight, as the rain transitions to heavy, wet snow, early Monday morning.
Snowfall accumulation is expected to range from 2 to 4 inches across many locations, with the possibility of higher amounts in regions with higher elevations.
In terms of wind, gusts will be predominantly in the 20-30 mph range on Sunday. However, as the night progresses, a few stronger gusts of 35 or even 40 mph cannot be ruled out. While power outages are not expected to be widespread, a few isolated outages might occur.
