New Yorkers Feel the Weight of Political Stress
It’s hard to ignore the buzz swirling around the recent attempt on former President Donald Trump's life. A nationwide survey has shone a light on the rising stress levels among Americans and it comes as no surprise that New Yorkers are feeling it too.
It turns out that 3 out of 5 of us are feeling the pressure after the attempted assassination attempt with a whopping 72% getting stressed out over the 2024 presidential election.
Then over the weekend, Joe Biden announces that he will drop out of the race. Yes, the tension is real for everyone!
When asked about our top worries, New Yorkers shared some common concerns with the rest of the country. Misinformation and disinformation are keeping 65% of us awake at night.
This is followed by worrying about the election outcome (64%), the possibility of more political violence (60%), and the ever-growing social division (59%). And let's not forget about the media coverage and bias - that has nearly half (49%) of us on edge too!
But wait, it doesn't stop there. This political whirlwind is not just affecting our news feeds, it's effecting our health and relationships. Half of us are worried about our personal safety, and 30% of New Yorkers have admitted to losing friendships over political differences.
So how are we coping with it? It seems like many of us are taking a step away from the news and social media to catch our breath and regain our sanity. Sometimes a digital detox is just what the doctor ordered!
