ORIGINAL STORY -  Finger Lakes area police have issued a request for help from the public in locating a missing woman who has Alzheimer's.

In a post to its Facebook page, the Trumansburg Police Department notified the general public that  Maria Skezas has gone missing and it would be a help to them if residents of the Trumasburg area would check their property, sheds, vehicles, and such for the missing woman. 

Maria is 87 years old and considered to be a vulnerable adult who uses a cane to walk. Maria was last seen inside her home in the South Street area in the Village of Trumasburg when she went to bed at approximately 9:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 11, 2023.

Maria only speaks Greek and there are no places that she is known to frequent. Police say she is believed to have left her home on foot.

When she was last seen, Maria was wearing black pants and a blue shirt. She most likely is also wearing black slip-on shoes and has with her a flowered walking cane.

Trumansburg Police note that Maria may come across as lost or she may knock on a door for help. Police ask that anyone who sees Maria or finds her to call Trumansburg Police at 607-387-6505 or Tompkins County 911 Center at 607-272-2444.
