On April 8th, the Kopernik Observatory and science center in Vestal will open its doors to host a Solar Eclipse Viewing Event at its facility on Underwood Road, off of Route 26.

The event at Kopernik will begin at noon, providing a unique opportunity for both the local community and area visitors to witness this extraordinary event.

Kopernik Solar Eclipse Viewing Event Admission Details

For Kopernik members, admission to the Solar Eclipse Viewing Event is free. Non-members can get in for $5 per person (children aged 4 years and under are free).

Upon admission, all those in attendance will have exclusive access to a range of cutting-edge equipment at the observatory, including the observatory's refracting telescope with a solar filter, the Heliostat, telescopes with Sun Funnels, and viewing of the observatory's YouTube channel.

Kopernik Solar Eclipse Parking and Access Information

To ensure smooth traffic flow and emergency vehicle access, the observatory's parking lot will be reserved only for vehicles with handicapped placards.

All other attendees are asked to park on the south side of Underwood Road and to pay attention to police as they will be out to direct traffic. Guests should also be prepared for potential walks of up to a mile from the observatory due to parking constraints. Those planning to attend are encourages to bring a blanket or chair for comfort as they observe the solar eclipse.
