Own a Historic Hotel in One of New York’s Famous Vacation Towns

Well, as you may know, I like to check out homes for sale throughout our local area and the State of New York from time to time as well. I look for places that have a bit of flair, and unusual, eye-popping properties. Usually, something I could never afford, but I like to look at the exterior and the interior of these places as if I could afford it.

While most of the places I've written and shown you photos of are of homes, and from time to time, glamping sites, this one is a category I've missed. That category is hotels. And this particular one is a historic hotel that is up for sale.

This hotel is located at 10 Main Street,  in the Village of Sharon Springs, which is in the New York State County of Schoharie. It's under a 2-hour drive up Route 88, and just north of Cobleskill, not too far from Albany, Howe's Caverns, and Cooperstown.

Why did I choose this hotel to show you? Well, for starters it's historic. And as the listing mentions via the Circa Old Houses website:

It has the original lobby and front desk with a 1930s Otis elevator that goes to all five floors.  The front desk was restored to its original 1896 natural cherry and walnut finish. The exquisite new multi-tiered  “French gold” chandelier is customized with over 100 Austrian Swarovski crystals. Fanimation designed the two, real palm leaf blade fans. Original plaster moldings and ceiling were restored.  The ballroom features beautiful coved ceilings with French Empire crystal chandeliers.  There is a full commercial kitchen and a dining room that seats 95 people. The hotel has three wings to it.
