Some Syracuse Orange fans are wondering if a new roof and millions of dollars in renovations will not only bring a new look to the Carrier Dome, but also a new name.

Carrier was granted the naming rights when it made a sizable contribution during the facility's construction. The University is making $118 million in renovations to its major sports venue.  The project is expected to be completed by 2022.

Among the renovations will be a fixed roof, new scoreboard and the addition of air conditioning.  Ironically, even though Carrier specializes in air conditioning the Syracuse Carrier Dome has never had that feature.

According to WSYR-TV in Syracuse, questions on the Carrier Dome name continuing surfaced with the recent football season ticket holders' mailing.  The return address read "Dome Box Office" and the brochure enclosed mentioned the "Syracuse University Dome", not "Carrier Dome".

According to the report, a spokesperson for Carrier Corporation responded to a question pertaining to the Carrier Dome name continuing.  In a written statement it says "the University legally granted the company the right to name its stadium the Carrier Dome in perpetuity"

According to NewsChannel 9's report, a Syracuse University spokesperson did not directly address the question of any change to the Carrier Dome name.  Are there winds of change or just an edit omission ?
