Anyone working outside should limit activity, seek shade, remain hydrated and be aware of signs of becoming overheated and get into air conditioning immediately.

The muggy conditions could be eased by some thunderstorm activity that is possible for the afternoon.

The  trade-off is, National Weather Service in Binghamton says some scattered storms could be severe.

According to a Hazardous Weather Statement , NOAA says: “A more organized round of scattered severe thunderstorms is expected this afternoon through early evening.

Forecasters say the main threats will be damaging winds, large hail, and frequent lightning. Locally heavy rainfall is also possible, and an isolated tornado cannot be ruled out.

Residents are advised to stay up to date on changing conditions and be prepared to take action if severe weather approaches.
