The full moon for July is tomorrow night the16th, but Tropical Storm Barry might ruin our chances of seeing it.

Native Americans nicknamed the full moon each month to track the seasons, and we still use them today. July's full moon is called the Buck Moon as a buck’s antlers are in full growth mode and the Thunder Moon because thunderstorms are so frequent during the month. We'll also have a partial lunar eclipse and two new Moons!

The Farmer's Almanac says there's a partial lunar eclipse on July 16-17, but is not visible for our North America. It can be seen from South America in the early evening and then in Europe/Africa later in the evening on July 16. In Asia and Australia, the eclipse occurs in the wee hours on July 17.

Here are the best days for activities, based on the Moon’s sign and phase in July.

For Cutting Hay: 22, 23, 24
Setting Eggs: 16, 17, 18
For Fishing: 2–16, 31

Have you noticed that the moon looks full for two to three nights around the time when the full Moon crests?
