Five Social Media Rules People Wish Their Family Would Follow
My parents and grandparents have escaped the grip of social media, refusing to be involved in it whatsoever but a lot of older people are on social media and in a way, it's nice to be able to connect with older family members that we might not get to see on a regular basis. But then there are times when our parents and grandparents use social media in ways that aren't just embarrassing to us, but also to them.

If you're a parent or grandparent who uses social media, here are some general rules that your kids and grandkids wish you would follow according to a survey by Visiting Angels.
- 1
Don't Go Emoji Crazy
One or two emojis are cool, but when you write an entire post using them, it's more distracting than anything.
- 2
Don't Friend Request Our Friends
25 percent of people in a survey done by Visiting Angels say they really aren't crazy about family members sending friends request to their friends.
- 3
Keep Your Posts Happy
Don't write about sad things like feeling sick or lonely.
- 4
Keep Personal Stuff Personal
Sometimes it's okay to share personal news on social media, but it's all about the way you share it. If it's dirty laundry, keep it in the basket. Nobody wants to get caught up in that stink.
- 5
Don't Try So Hard
Your family loves that you want to be friends with everyone they're friends with, but please don't try so hard. It just comes across as awkward.
