Five Mile Point Speedway is a dirt race track in Kirkwood that has been in operation for 68 years. But the fate of the legendary Broome County dirt track was uncertain after last year.

According to WBNG TV, Tyler, Tucker and Tanner Harpell will take over running the track which their great grandparents started 69 years ago.

According to WBNG, the brothers said the future of the speedway was uncertain last fall, because their uncle who was managing the facility, mentioned he did not want to run the business any longer.

The Family was even thinking about leasing the speedway. If it wasn't for Tyler and his two brothers taking over the track, according to WBNG, it potentially could have closed.

Renovations are currently underway for their upcoming racing season which opens on April 6th, which is one week from this Saturday.
