Firefighter Hurt Battling Intense Blaze in Endicott
A fast-moving fire tore through a car repair shop on North Street in Endicott.
Authorities say the blaze at Gamba's Auto was reported around 9 p.m. Monday.
Endicott fire department Captain Robert Flynn said one firefighter sustained a minor injury. He was treated for a laceration at a hospital and released.
Flynn said firefighters initially went inside the burning building to attack the blaze but they were pulled out after about ten minutes.
No major damage was reported to two houses just south of the burning building.
Endicott firefighters were assisted by units from Endwell, Vestal, West Endicott, Union Center and West Corners.
Flynn said the last fire units left the scene around 1:50 a.m.
North Street between Parsons Avenue and Evergreen Avenue was closed to traffic for several hours.
