Fifth Harmony Post First Official Photo Without Camila Cabello
The four remaining members of Fifth Harmony are already working hard to prove to their fans they have no plans to disband anytime soon.
The group shared its first official photo of Fifth Harmony's current lineup — consisting of Ally Brooke, Dinah Jane, Lauren Jauregui and Normani Kordei — to Twitter today (January 5), just weeks after member Camila Cabello seemingly blindsided her bandmates by quitting the group.
Fifth Harmony released a lengthy statement on December 19 about Cabello’s departure, saying they were, “informed via her representatives” that the “Bad Things” singer had decided to quit the group. They insisted, however, that they’d continue on as a foursome while also working on solo projects on the side.
Shortly after that announcement began circulating online, Cabello wrote her own statement, claiming her bandmates were well aware of her decision to leave.
"The girls were aware of my feelings through the long, much needed conversations about the future that we had during our tour," she wrote. "Saying that they were just informed through my representatives that I was ‘leaving the group’ is simply not true."
But the "Work From Home" group maintained their version of events with yet another release, refuting Cabello's claims that any behind-the-scenes conversations took place at all -- despite the group's best efforts to make them happen.
“Over the past several months we have consistently made every effort to sit down and discuss the future of Fifth Harmony with Camila," they wrote. "We have spent the past year and a half (since her initial solo endeavor) trying to communicate to her and her team all of the reasons why we felt Fifth Harmony deserved at least one more album of her time, given the success of this past year that we’d all worked so hard for…we even went as far as group counseling which she did now show up to.
“So no, after months of rejection from her and her team, these supposedly lengthy conversations in fact never happened, although we pleaded," they continued. "We have tried with exhausted efforts and hearts to keep this group alive as the five of us, and we want it to be very clear that unfortunately those efforts were not mutual.”
