If you were a child in the 80s, you most definitely watched several projects that Gehr worked on, probably without even realizing that you were. Gehr has a slew of credits to his name but is most well known for his work as an editor of the 1985 movie 'He-Man and She-Ra: The Secret of the Sword' as well as editor of the 1985 movie, 'She-Ra: Princess of Power.' Gehr was also part of the editorial team in 1986 for 'G.I. Joe' television series. He also worked in the editorial department for 'The Transformers' television series from 1986 to 1987. If 'My Little Pony 'n Friends' was more your thing, Gehr was involved with that television series as well as an assistant to supervising editor for 61 show episodes.
According to Gehr's biography on the Chenango Valley School website, he grew up on Ritchie Road in Hillcrest and was quite active in Community Baptist Church as well as at Chenango Valley High School where he was involved in a variety of things including Student Council, chorus, drama, and wrestling.
As a teenager, Gehr participated in local theater and while attending the University of Richmond, Gehr studied Speech and Dramatic Arts and Education. After college, Gehr continued working in theater but his big break came when Kurtz & Friends Animation hired him as an assistant editor. That big break led to Gehr working for Filmation Studio, Marvel Studios, and Warner Bros. Studios where he has been for the last 34 years.
Impressively, Gehr was spotlighted by the Library of Congress in 2016 for his work on a special two-night presentation on Warner Bros. cartoons at the Packard Campus of the Library of Congress in Virginia.
