Endicott Police Seek Suspects in Shooting Near Washington Avenue
Another shooting incident is being investigated in the heart of Endicott's business district.
Authorities say gunshots rang out in a municipal parking lot behind M&T Bank at 35 Washington Avenue around 5 p.m. Wednesday.
According to an Endicott police department news release, "the victim and suspects had fled the scene" by the time officers arrived.
Village police officers were assisted by state troopers and Broome County sheriff's deputies.
Investigators said the suspects were last seen on foot heading east across parking lots on Garfield Avenue toward Grant Avenue.
The news release indicated police did not know whether someone was injured as a result of the shooting.
People with information or video related to the incident may contact Endicott police at (607) 785-3341.
An Endicott man was charged with attempted murder for allegedly shooting a person on Washington Avenue on December 14.
That incident happened in front of a vacant building at 140 Washington Avenue. Police said a person sustained a gunshot wound to the leg in that shooting.
The suspect in that case - 31-year-old Dominique Wortham of Endicott - was taken into custody more than a month after the shooting in the city of Binghamton.
In the December incident, police initially said they did not believe anyone had been injured. But investigators eventually learned that a person had been wounded.
Police have not provided information regarding a possible motive in connection with that shooting.
