A man was transported to the hospital after the vehicle he was driving tore down a fence and crashed into a tree in the front yard of a single-family house in Binghamton.

The incident happened at 166 Broad Avenue on the city's East Side shortly after noon Friday.

People at the scene said the driver may have lost control of the 2007 Toyota Highlander when he swerved to avoid another vehicle.

Although a section of the fence in front of the home was torn down, a man who resides there said there was no other damage to his property.

The driver sustained a laceration to a hand and a possible leg injury.

Police were investigating the crash.
