As we get closer to the one-year anniversary of the two-week pause to flatten the curve, many of us have been looking back and pining for the days before masking-up and social distancing.

Are you struggling to cope with what's been going on for the last 12 months? If you've been thinking about seeing a therapist, you wouldn't be alone. During the pandemic, 30% of us have sought professional help and nearly 90% of them say that it's helped.

Our world hasn't just been turned sideways, it's been flipped upside down. Schools were shut down and kids were isolated from their friends at school. People were furloughed or laid off and suffered financial hardship.

As a man, I know it's hard to ask for help when things aren't going the way we want. The good news is that more men realize that it's okay to seek out mental health help during this difficult time. We might not tell anyone but we realize it's alright.

One thing that I've learned in the past 12 months, is that I shouldn't take things for granted. I had a conversation with my daughter, Tara recently and she said that she'll never take hockey games at the arena for granted anymore.

We were glad that the Binghamton Devils are playing this season but disappointed that they won't be on the ice at the Visions Federal Credit Union Veterans Memorial Arena. Tara mentioned that next year, she's going to invite her friends and I can't wait for Chuck-a-Puck again.

The next couple of weeks may be hard for us as our Facebook memories continue to pop up. We will be reminded of what life was like just one year ago. Don't keep it to yourself, remember we weren't created to be alone so don't go through it alone.

If it takes professional help, please don't hesitate because as the saying goes "We'll get through this together." If you're feeling down and looking for a good laugh today, check out our gallery of  "Hilarious Amazon Reviews" below.
