The City of Binghamton honored its champions yesterday(June 21) with a ceremony at City Hall and a parade through the downtown. Binghamton High School won its first-ever New York State Public High School Athletic Association championship in softball. The Patriots won the Class AA crown with a 4-1 victory over Orchard Park. The Pats won 18 consecutive games to finish with a 22-2 record.

In Track & Field, the Patriots excelled as well. Alexis Daniels won both the Shot Put and Discus competition in Division I. The Boys 4 X 100 Relay Team won the Gold Medal in Division I.

Binghamton Mayor Rich David presided over the ceremony outside of City Hall. He presented the "Key to the City" to the softball team and individual awards to team members as well as the track & field champions.

Following the awards ceremony Binghamton Police and Fire personnel led a "Parade of Champions" from City Hall to Binghamton High School where a reception was held.
