Car into Windsor Home Results in Damage and Charges
Broome County Sheriff’s officials are reporting significant damage to a house after a car piloted by an alleged drugged driver drove into it on the evening of Thursday, June 17.
Authorities say a 2009 Hyundai sedan swerved across Route 79 in the Town of Windsor and hit the house at about 9:02 p.m.
31-year-old Nathaniel Rutherford of Castle Creek told them a small animal ran across the road, causing him to swerve into the house at 1502 State Route 79.
Authorities say Rutherford performed poorly on field sobriety tests and a drug recognition expert determined he was under the influence of a narcotic analgesic an a central nervous system stimulant.
Rutherford is charged with driving while ability impaired, moving from a lane unsafely and driving an uninspected motor vehicle.
He's been ordered to appear in Town of Windsor Court at a later date.
Both the Hyundai and the house were said to have sustained significant damage. There were no injuries.
