Canstruction Competition Returns to Oakdale Mall
Feats of determination, design and.. cans will be on display at the Oakdale Mall for bragging rights and to help feed the hungry in the area.
The 6th annual Canstruction competition of structures made entirely out of canned food takes place March 17 through March 24. Cans used in the build go to CHOW at the end of the contest.
Teams range from student groups like SUNY Broome Community College and Chenango Valley High School to big companies like BAE Systems, IBM an Lockheed Martin.
Canstruction is hosted by the Broome Leadership Institute Alumni Association and presented by Visions Federal Credit Union.
Awards will be handed out Wednesday, March 20 for Best Original Design, Best Use of Labels, Most Cans, Structural Ingenuity, Best Meal, Jurors’ Favorite and Honorable Mention.
The public can vote for the People’s Choice award.
Winning teams have the opportunity to compete at the national level.
