Kids CAN Build Canned Food Structures Raise $ for CHOW
The former Canstruction of the Southern Tier competition is carrying on as an event for students to raise awareness about food insecurity and provide food for the Community Hunger Outreach Warehouse.
The previous events pitted designers from schools as well as local businesses and industry in erecting fantastic structures made out of canned food that would be donated to the CHOW warehouse.
Kids CAN Build continues building on the tradition of raising food for the hungry through canned-food construction and recently gave awards for such categories as Best Meal and Best Use of Labels and presented CHOW with $30,650 raised from combined food and money donations.
Best Meal went to Union Endicott, Structural Integrity went to BOCES Tech Academy 10, Owego Apalachin took Best Labels and the overall Best Design Award was given to Johnson City.
Kids CAN Build Committee Chairperson Jamie Jacobs has been named Volunteer of the Year.
