Pregnancy can be an emotional, stressful time. Those emotions can be even stronger and more complex if the pregnancy was unplanned.

That's why Birthright offers free, confidential and non-judgmental help and support to women with unplanned pregnancies and women who think they might be pregnant. They can provide support and friendship, as well as pregnancy testing, maternity items, baby supplies and referrals for medical services, housing assistance and counseling. They have information about pregnancy, childbirth, adoption, prenatal care, community programs, parenting skills, and child care but their goal is to help her develop a plan that is best for her pregnancy and her life.

We help women discover hope for the future through friendship, love and support. We know the importance of simply being with her, being a compassionate listener and respecting that it is her life and her plan. Birthright is available to support her for as long as she needs us, from the time of her first call or visit, throughout her pregnancy and after.

These services and commitments haven't changed with the coronavirus pandemic. The office at 435 Main St., Johnson City, is open limited hours and by appointment, but you can easily make an appointment by calling 607-798-7661 or emailing binghamton@birthright.org. You also can call the 24/7 helpline at 800-550-4900.

If you know someone who might benefit from Birthright's help, don't hesitate to suggest they call or email them. Birthright's main goal is providing hope and ensuring she's not alone.
