Binghamton's "RumbleTown Stadium" Gets a New Name

The city of Binghamton's baseball stadium has acquired a new identity with the Rumble Ponies announcing a naming rights agreement.

The Henry Street venue has been renamed Mirabito Stadium. The new name was revealed publicly Friday afternoon.

In recent weeks, the baseball team began referring to the facility as "RumbleTown Stadium" but no signage changes were made.

Mirabito Energy Products CEO Joe Mirabito said the company is excited about the future of the downtown stadium.

The city-owned facility was called Binghamton Municipal Stadium when it opened in April 1992. It became known as NYSEG stadium after New York State Electric & Gas Corporation acquired the naming rights in 2001.

NYSEG officials have not explained why the utility decided not to renew its agreement after two decades.
