The City of Binghamton’s Parks Department is raking up more than leaves these days.  Its raking in awards from the Central New York Recreation and Parks Society.

Parks Commissioner William Barber won the David Goukas Award for Excellence.  The award recognizes excellence by a professional with over five years experience in parks and recreation and show a significant contribution to the field.

The Stewardship Award went to the Shade Tree Commission and parks maintenance staff.

Program of Merit accolades go to the Little Free Library program that is seen as a creative effort that enriches a community.

The Parks Department was also recognized for its Summer in the Parks promotional brochures and for the flyers and posters promoting the Holiday Carousel Rides.

The Central New York honorees are now entered in a statewide contest with awards to be announced next month in Syracuse.
