Binghamton Man Sentenced for Trying to Kill His Wife
A Binghamton man will serve 12 years in prison and five years on parole for attempting to kill his wife last December.
The Broome County District Attorney’s Office says 36 year old Mike Rivera, Junior pleaded guilty to felony counts of attempted murder, attempted assault, assault, two counts of strangulation, sexual abuse and unlawful imprisonment May 2.
Investigators said Rivera repeatedly stabbed his wife in their Berlin Street, Binghamton home December 16, restrained and strangled her and subjected her to sexual contact. The woman sustained several stab wounds and other injuries.
Police apprehended Rivera on Floral Avenue on the West Side shortly after the attack.
