Police say a 20-year-old man has been accused of repeatedly stabbing someone in the back on Binghamton's West Side.

Authorities say James Christ Jr. of Webster Court was arrested late Tuesday night. He has been charged with second-degree attempted murder.

Investigators say police were called to the 300 block of Main Street to investigate a stabbing around 2:15 a.m. Saturday.

Detectives say the 20-year-old victim had sustained "approximately five stab wounds" in the back. The person was taken to Wilson Medical Center in Johnson City for treatment of what were described as serious injuries.

Plainclothes members of the Binghamton police Community Response Team apprehended Christ. He was booked at police headquarters and sent to Broome County Jail.

Police did not say where Christ was found. They also did not release the name of the person who was stabbed or a condition report.
