The City is holding a free electronics drop-off day at the Department of Public Works Garage on Broad Street.

The free drop-off of televisions, cell phones, printers, keyboards, VCRs (remember those?) takes place from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. for City residents only.

Residents must produce proof of address and will be allowed to break-up with up to five of their electronic cast-offs.

The City says most counter-top appliances like coffee makers and toasters can be put out with the regular trash along with vacuum cleaners and landline telephones.

Binghamton residents who want to get rid of large items like air conditioners, refrigerators or humidifiers should contact the Department of Public Works at (607) 772-7020 for curbside pickup.

If you miss Saturday’s collection or don’t live in the City of Binghamton, the Broome County Landfill has designated collection days every month where electronic waste is collected free. On non-collection days, there is a five-dollar charge.
