A New York State Senator from Western New York is in Binghamton to talk about issues that impact regions outside of New York City.

Rochester Democrat Jeremy Cooney has scheduled a roundtable discussion with local leaders as part of his Regener8 Cities tour.

The meeting features Cooney with Binghamton Senator Fred Akshar, a Republican who is now running for Broome County Sheriff, Republican Binghamton Mayor Richard David, Democrat Broome County Executive Jason Garnar as well as representatives from the Binghamton City School District, United Way of Broome County, Binghamton University and the Greater Binghamton Chamber of Commerce..

A formal hearing by the bi-partisan group on the issues facing families in eight of the larger cities in the state is planned for November.

The tour had scheduled stops in Albany, Binghamton, Buffalo, Plattsburgh, Rochester, Syracuse, Utica and Yonkers in Westchester County.
