Bearcats Tipoff America East Title Hopes
The Binghamton Bearcats women's basketball team begins its quest for an America East championship when they host the New Hampshire Wildcats tonight (Wednesday) at 7:00 PM (6:45 on News Radio 1290 WNBF). In two regular season meetings the Brearcats won both including a two-point victory at the Events Center on Saturday to close out the regular season.
The Bearcats come into the playoffs as a fourth seed finishing with a conference record of 10-6 and an overall record of 21-8. Bethann Shapiro Ord is in her second season at the helm of the Bearcats.
The Wildcats are the fifth seed after finishing the regular season at 7-9 in America East and 10-17 overall. Coach Maureen Magarity is in her 10th season as the head coach of the Wildcats.
The Bearcats are led by America East Player of the Year, Kai Moon, who enters the playoffs as the top scorer in the conference averaging 20.4 points peer game. The Wildcats' key player is Ashley Story who was named to the All-Conference First Team.
Tonight's winner advances to Sunday's semifinal round to be played at the home of the highest remaining seed. In other quarterfinal contests tonight:
