At least one Republican already has his hat in the ring for Broome County District Attorney, just hours after the current D.A., Stephen Cornwell issued a statement January 4 saying he will not seek re-election.

Paul Battisti also put out a statement on January 4.  He said he would run for the job in the fall. Battisti says he will be “making a full formal announcement, including details about my campaign in the near future... I will not be making any further public campaign statements until that time.”

The Kirkwood attorney said Cornwell has made progress over the past three years and wished him luck.  Battisti says, however, the work of the D.A.’s office needs to go on with new leadership.
