April The Giraffe's Last Calf, Azizi Passes Away

Sad news out of Texas. The Facebook page of the East Texas Zoo and Gator Park where April the Giraffe's calf, Azizi resides, has reported that the calf has unexpectedly passed away. Azizi the Giraffe was born at the Animal Adventure Park in Harpursville on March 16th, 2019.

If you have followed the life of April the Giraffe or visited the Animal Adventure Park, you may have had the chance to see Azizi at the park before he was transferred to the East Texas Zoo and Gator Park. Azizi is one of five calves produced by April the Giraffe.

April the Giraffe, who is now 17 years old, gained worldwide attention when she was pregnant with Tajiri, who was born on April 15th, 2017. The Animal Adventure Park had set up cameras for all to observe April's progress, and the world quickly fell in love with April and Tajiri.

According to the Animal Adventure Park website, Azizi was an independent and rambunctious giraffe. Azizi, who was transferred to the East Texas Zoo and Gator Park, was the last calf born to April the Giraffe.

The Facebook post from the East Texas Zoo and Gator Park notes that Azizi the Giraffe was recently being treated for a parasitic issue and while Azizi was showing improvements, he took a turn for the worse, which the post stated was unexpected and unpreventable.
