An Endwell Donut Mecca Has Returned
A small Endwell shop that developed a big following among fans of unique varieties of donuts has resumed operations.
The Daylight Donuts store at 3208 East Main Street first opened in 2013. The place developed a loyal customer base but it closed following a reported falling-out between partners.
A Port Crane woman, Bonnie Bender, has reopened the shop. Bender, who had worked in food service for 30 years, said she started looking for a new opportunity last year. That's when friends told her about the business.
Bender said customers have greeted her enthusiastically over the past three weeks. She said her son and a baker who had previously worked at the shop make the donuts, getting started very early each morning.
Bender said the Elvis donut - which features peanut butter, banana and bacon - is one of the shop's most popular offerings.
The store is open six days a week. It's closed on Mondays.
