Johnson City Taxes on the Rise

Residents in the Village of Johnson City will be paying more in taxes next year.

The Village Board has unanimously passed a spending plan that increases taxes by 1.75%.

Johnson City officials, meanwhile, are looking at several fairly recent developments that could impact the bottom line down the road.  One is a possible increase in revenue from the development of the Binghamton University Pharmacy School and the movement of the Decker School of Nursing to the Village but the other is a possible loss of sales tax revenue as stores continue to leave the Oakdale Mall with no solid word on any replacements.

The Village fiscal year begins June 1.
