One hundred miles is a lot of miles for little legs to walk, but one Southern Tier boy has pledged to do just that- walk 100 miles to raise awareness and money to support kids with cancer at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

The young man hitting the pavement is my son. John is seven years old and he has been a small yet mighty voice for sick kids at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital since he was just a toddler.

I began my involvement with St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in 2018 and since the day I returned from visiting the hospital in Memphis and shared with my son stories of the miraculous work done there to save the lives of very sick kids, John has had a fire in his heart and passion to work alongside me to help save children using his little voice however possible to raise awareness.

Now, my little boy is lacing up his sneakers and hitting the road to walk to raise awareness and funds for the hospital that offers care to critically ill children free of charge. John will be walking 100 miles, of his own free will, in the month of April through St. Jude 100 Mile Challenge where every penny raised will go directly to St. Jude so that they can treat and defeat childhood cancer and other life-threatening diseases.

St. Jude Children's Research Hospital works hand in hand with hospitals all around the world sharing their research and resources so that kids with cancer and other critical diseases, including kids right here in our community, are able to receive care that could save their lives.

Treatments invented at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital have helped push the overall childhood cancer survival rate from 20 percent to more than 80 percent since it opened more than 60 years ago. And, St Jude won’t stop until no child dies from cancer.

If you would like to support a little boy who has a dream that childhood cancer will be eradicated within his lifetime and who believes that St. Jude Children's Research Hospital will be the organization that plays a huge role in making that happen, you can donate to or share his fundraiser with others, you can do so here.

St. Jude Children's Research Hospital is a non-profit organization and is exempt from federal income taxes under Section 501(C)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. Therefore, your donation is fully tax-deductible.
