13 Broome County Teens Receive Recognition From Civil Air Patrol
Civil Air Patrol was formed on December 1, 1941, during World War II, and to this day, this organization is comprised of citizen airmen who are to service to the United States of America.
Civil Air Patrol was created was a way to use civilian aviation resources when needed for national defense reasons. Today, Civil Air Patrol is used for emergency missions both in the air and on the ground.
The 56,000 members of Civil Air Patrol help search for and find those who are lost, assist in times of disaster, and help to keep America safe by looking after the wellbeing of their communities.
The core values of Civil Air Patrol members are “Integrity, Volunteer Service, Excellence, and Respect” and in the United States, there are 23,000 young people who are members of the Civil Air Patrol through the organization's Cadet Programs.
In Broome County, thirteen young people were recently honored and given promotions in the CAP Cadet Program for upholding the Civil Air Patrol’s mission as well as their dedication to both the United States and to their community through the Civil Air Patrol’s Southern Tier Cadet Squadron.
The youngsters promoted to Cadet Airman are:
12-year-old Cadet Jaden Badger of East Middle School
14-year-old Cadet Emilie Berger of Seton Catholic
14-year-old Cadet Rylee Smith of Vestal (homeschooled)
The youngster promoted to Cadet Airman First Class is:
12-year-old Cadet Cameron Webster of Vestal Middle School
The youngsters promotion to Cadet Senior Airman are:
15-year-old Cadet Madison Cartie of Maine-Endwell High School
14-year-old Cadet Lucy Loup, 14 of Union-Endicott High School
13-year-old Cadet Ayden Selmer of Owego-Apalachin Middle School
14-year-old Cadet Caleb Thompson of Susquehanna Valley High School
12-year-old Cadet Cameron Webster of Vestal Middle School
15-year-old Cadet Samuel Nowetner of Owego Free Academy
The teen promoted to Cadet Technical Sergeant is:
17-year-old Cadet Anthony Gee of Binghamton High School
The teens promoted to Cadet Master Sergeant are:
17-year-old Cadet Joseph Giammarino of Susquehanna Valley High School
