Zoe Kravitz to Play Catwoman Opposite Robert Pattinson’s ‘Batman’
It's official: Zoe Kravitz is the new Catwoman.
According to Variety, the actress will join Robert Pattinson in the upcoming The Batman movie. This casting is huge for Kravitz, who's best known for her role as Bonnie Carlson in HBO's Big Little Lies. Other actresses who have portrayed the feline anti-hero include Anne Hathaway in 2012’s The Dark Knight Rises, Michelle Pfeiffer in 1992’s Batman Returns, as well as Halle Berry who starred in a Catwoman standalone film in 2004.
On Monday (October 14), the movie's director, Matt Reeves, also seemingly confirmed the news in the same way he did with the actor... by tweeting out a GIF.
This time, he posted one of Kravitz saying "Hello" on the phone.
Following the announcement, Kravitz's stepdad and fellow DC superhero, Jason Momoa, congratulated her on Instagram. "I’m so proud of u zozo bear. On and off-screen OHANA. DC WB ohana Lola and Wolfies big sister is CAT WOMAN," he wrote. "Unbelievable so freaking stoked. You're going to have so much fun Aloha P bear."
Kravitz replied, commenting, "LOVE YOU PAPA BEAR! love that Aquaman and Catwoman spend the holidays together from now on."
Meanwhile, Wonder Woman star Gal Gadot offered her congratulations on Momoa's post by posting a dancing and raising both hands emojis and Game of Thrones' Sophie Turner couldn't contain her excitement on Twitter.
Hathaway also officially passed the Catwoman baton to Kravitz, writing, "The biggest congrats to @zoeisabellakravitz on landing the role of a lifetime. Well, one life anyway... Enjoy the ride, Selena."
The Batman is slated for release on June 25, 2021.
