Worker Accused of Stealing $50,000 From Window Company

Police say an employee of a Southern Tier business has been accused of altering her paychecks in a scheme to steal more than $50,000.

Authorities say 36-year-old Alanna Walker of Bainbridge has been charged with second-degree grand larceny and first-degree falsifying business records. Both counts are felonies.

According to New York State Police, the woman worked for a Chenango County company when the alleged thefts occurred.

Investigators were notified by Madison Vinyl Windows of Bainbridge on August 27 when the owner suspected she had stolen money after discovering discrepancies in bank statements.

Walker allegedly altered her paychecks on several occasions while working as a secretary.

Police did not say when the thefts were believed to have started.

The woman was arrested at the business. She was arraigned in Bainbridge town court and released on her own recognizance.
