A woman from Georgia who had moved to a relative’s home in Broome County at the end of last year is under formal indictment for murder in the death of her 10 year old daughter.

The Broome County District Attorney’s office says 30 year old Serina Madden is charged with felony counts of murder and manslaughter and two misdemeanor counts of endangering the welfare of a child in the death of BellaDonna Loke while allowing her other children to sleep and play in the same room at a Colesville home where the child’s body lay.

Police were called about an unresponsive child on East Windsor Road at around 12:30 p.m. February 18th and found the girl’s body in a bedroom.

At the time, authorities had said BellaDonna was believed to have suffered from a serious medical condition.

State Police say Madden was arrested July 9 at a home on North McKinley Avenue in Endicott after being indicted by a Broome County Grand Jury.

The court papers have not indicated the cause of the child’s death and the District Attorney’s Office says more information will be coming out as the case proceeds through the criminal justice system.

Madden is being held in the Broome County Jail.
