Windsor Man Charged After Allegedly Shooting at Broome Deputies

A Windsor man was being held on felony charges following an incident in which gunfire was exchanged with Broome County sheriff's deputies outside his home.

45-year-old Jamie Crowley of Cascade Valley Road was arraigned Tuesday evening.

Sheriff David Harder said Crowley admitted he fired a gun toward a vehicle that turned around in a driveway at his residence late Friday night.

Harder said Crowley was wounded in the right shoulder early Saturday morning after a deputy fired a gun at him when he would not drop a .44 caliber revolver.

Crowley left Wilson Medical Center in Johnson City wearing hospital garb after receiving initial treatment for his injury.

Speaking on WNBF Radio's Binghamton Now program, Harder said Crowley faces several charges, including menacing a police officer and reckless endangerment.

The sheriff said illegal weapons were seized when a search warrant was executed at Crowley's home.

Broome County district attorney Michael Korchak said his office is reviewing video from body-worn cameras and interviewing witnesses. He said he doesn't know when the case will be presented to a grand jury.
