Area Weis Markets are looking to help needy families in our area with their Fight Hunger Campaign.  The effects of COVID-19 have been devastating and are far from over.  Individuals and families are in many cases struggling more than ever.  Job cutbacks, furloughs and illness have put major stress on families and households. With schools closed families are needing to feed their children more often.

Through the Fight Hunger Campaign Weis is enabling customers to "Round Up" their bill to the next dollar when they go through the checkout line.  In addition customers can purchase $1, $3, $5 or $10 vouchers to use toward the Fight Hunger Campaign.

Speaking with Roger Neel on News Radio 1290 WNBF on Wednesday morning Weis Community Relations and Events Management Specialist  Jaime Hynoski outlined the program and asked for the community's support.  Hynoski says the program usually kicks off in September but with the extreme circumstances we are experiencing due to COVID-19 the decision was made to start the Fight Hunger Campaign now instead of waiting.

In addition to Rounding Up or purchasing vouchers at the checkout cashier Weis Markets is also accepting donations for the fight against hunger on their website. To make your donation go to:

With the pandemic continuing the need for food is expected to increase. While schools remain out for the rest of the school year concerns increase on the possibility that business and jobs will only return at a controlled pace.  That means the food need will likely increase into and through the summer months.  Hynoski says that Weis Markets plans to continue the campaign indefinitely to help the community's needs.
