Warning: Don’t Microwave Your Cloth Face Mask

People are sharing pictures of scorched face masks, warning of the danger of microwaving them, after viral posts recommended microwaving cloth face coverings in plastic bags for “2 to 3 minutes” to clean them.

Since so many people have tried microwaving their masks, fire departments across the country have been warning people of the dangers.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends that cloth face masks should be "routinely washed" in a washing machine.

Earlier today, officials in Pennsylvania announced that all in-person businesses across Pennsylvania must require all employees & customers to wear face masks or facial coverings,

Officials in New Jersey made a similar announcement a week ago.
