Walmart Asking Customers Use Credit and Not Cash When Paying
The National coin shortage around has impacted businesses across the country and now major retailers are taking steps.
According to WGRZ, Walmart is asking customers to use credit or debit cards instead of cash when paying at their stores.
“Like most retailers, we’re experiencing the affects of the nation-wide coin shortage," said Avani Dudhia, spokesperson for Walmart. "We’re asking customers to pay with card or use correct change when possible if they need to pay with cash."
Walmart has converted some self-checkout registers to credit or debit-only, while some standard registers are being moved to credit-only as well.
While Walmart is asking/requesting its customers to pay with non-cash options, cash can still be accepted.
When the COVID-19 pandemic started in March, the economy was partially shut down, causing a National coin shortage. There’s no timetable on how long Walmart will be asking customers to pay in credit or debit.
