Several cool new works of art have popped up on downtown Binghamton streets for an event called "Ice Fest."

Large blocks of ice were carved by Stan Kolonko, who owns The Ice Farm in East Syracuse.

Kolonko first began making ice sculptures when he was training as a chef. He's competed in ice sculpting competitions in Alaska, Canada and China.

Kolonko and his team start with 300-pound blocks of ice. The blocks are transformed into a wide array of objects, including a giant ice throne which was on display for several days in front of The Colonial restaurant on Court Street.

The Colonial and other downtown businesses are sponsoring the Ice Fest, which will feature live music on Friday evening.
