Vestal Police Work to Identify Crime Spree Suspect
Investigators for the Vestal police department and the Broome County Sheriff's Office are trying to track down a man wanted for a series of larcenies in three states.
Authorities have released images from surveillance cameras in an effort to identify the suspect.
Vestal police say the man smashed the window of a vehicle parked behind the Skylark Restaurant on the Vestal Parkway on Tuesday afternoon.
Two hours later, the same man is believed to have stolen an employee's purse at the Sunoco gas station on Front Street in the town of Dickinson.
Vestal police on Thursday received a report from the Skylark Diner that the man was found sitting in someone's vehicle. He fled before officers arrived.
The man is believed to have stolen a license plate from a vehicle April 3 in Perry, Florida. He also is suspected of stealing a vehicle a few days later in Carlisle, Pennsylvania.
Investigators say the man is believed to be driving a Nissan Xterra with the stolen Florida plate BVFL48 on the rear of the vehicle.
Police say anyone who sees the suspect or the vehicle should call 911.
