Upstate NY Teen Makes Top 20 on American Idol

We asked you "Could the next American Idol winner come from New York State?" last month. The answer is looking more and more like "yes" as American Idol progresses.

Madison VanDenburg is from Cohoes, NY in Albany County and absolutely floored all three American Idol judges with her rendition of Dan + Shay's smash hit "Speechless" in her first audition. She received a standing ovation from Luke Byran, Lionel Ritchie, and Katy Perry on her way to Hollywood.

The 17-year-old amazed the judges one more time this past Sunday night and punched her ticket to the Top 20 on American Idol.

VanDenburg's performance of  The Jackson 5's "Who's Loving You" earned her one more step closer to becoming the next American Idol. She will now be moving on to the live shows, and needs ALL of NYS's help in winning!
