The middle of a sweltering summer is a tough time for a pool to close, but two pools in the city of Binghamton are now temporarily closed.

City officials announced Wednesday that the pools at Recreation Park and Webster Street Park were closed after a city employee tested positive for COVID-19.

The Cheri Lindsey Park Pool remains open.

The employee who tested positive, officials say works at the Webster Street Park Pool, and that another employee who works at the Recreation Park Pool had direct contact with the coronavirus-positive employee.

The city says that all pool personel who had direct contact with the infected employee are being tested.

The City says it is following all NYS Department of Health guidelines and is working with the Broome County Health Department on contact tracing.
