Ever since I've owned a camper (travel trailer, RV, or whatever label you want to attach it to), my vacation travel or any travel for that matter has been limited to pretty much the Southern Tier of New York and the Northeastern Pennsylvania. Nothing wrong with that, of course.

My camper is set in a campground in Bradford County, Pennsylvania all year, and when the campground is open (May to November) that's pretty much where I go, except for the occasional trip to visit my mom and siblings in Western New York.

This has been happening since around 2000. Before that, I used to take yearly trips to destinations around the country along with a few trips to the United Kingdom to visit England, Wales and my favorite, Scotland. I think I saw the Loch Ness Monster on one of my trips to Inverness, but maybe it was because I was looking through whiskey glasses, if you know what I mean.

Anyway, next week, I will be taking my first long distance trip in a long time to Memphis, Tennessee. I'll be flying, and it's been about 20 years since I've been in an airplane. I'm so out of touch about rules and restrictions of flying that were put in place over the past 20 years.

What I used to be able to bring the last time I flew versus what you can bring now is so different. Checking in will be a whole new adventure. I  remember not having to pay for checked luggage. Not now. And, I'm not a fan of long, slow lines. Plus, all flights have me stuck in a middle seat. Great.

I wonder if it's too late to cancel my flight and drive there? Maybe if it wasn't the winter season. Oh well, wish me luck!? My best wishes to you from Beale Street when I arrive. I'll let Elvis know you said "Hi."
